DHS has finalized a rule replacing "duration of status" with fixed periods of admission for F, J, and certain I nonimmigrants. The rule also includes changes affecting extensions of stay and other requirements for certain students and exchange visitors. Employment authorization for certain Temporary Protected Status (TPS) beneficiaries has again been temporarily extended while related litigation continues. If you have TPS, check whether your country is covered by the extension and review the updated expiration dates for your employment authorization documents.

USCIS announced that it has rescinded the 2022 Public Charge Final Rule. The agency stated that it will implement the public charge ground of inadmissibility under updated policy guidance. Individuals applying for immigration benefits that may be subject to the public charge ground should review the updated guidance and consult with counsel if they have questions about how the changes may affect their case.
